Pittwater Artfest
Thank you to all the children who entered Pittwater Artfest 2010, with 508 entries received. The quality of work was very high and the interpretation of the 2010 theme, "I DREAM", was diverse.
OPENING NIGHT started off with a high energy performance by Umbrella Studios called Alexander and his Bug Band. Johanna from Billy Hydes hosted the evening and introduced us to Ruby Cooper, the winner of the "I DREAM" song writing competition. Ruby blew us away. Larry McDonald represented the judges and there were awards and speeches from Harvey Rose, the Mayor of Pittwater, the Hon Bronwyn Bishop and Rob Stokes. Katherine Roberts presented the awards to the prize winners and Pru Warn handed out the awards to the Highly Commended works. Hurley and UTS gave their special awards and there were also art scholarships awarded by Meredith Rasdall, Debbie Waters and Liz McDonald as well as a framing prize from Peninsula Reflections.
ART IN THE PARK saw thousands of kids come through Dunbar Park and spend a good few hours making bugs on sticks, mosaic mobiles, wire animal sculptures, plaster, clay creatures, felt balls, crazy badges, small canvas creations, easel paintings and much more. Kids painted cars, surfboards and anything that didn't move.
THEATRE IN THE PARK was a great success and saw families come and throw out a blanket and enjoy the theatre under the stars.
A great time was had by all and we thank all the volunteers who helped make this year's festival such a success. With the the support of local organisations, businesses and local peope, ARTFEST would not be possible.
ARTFEST will next be held in mid 2012 - see you then.
